Every Boy, Safe. Every Time.

Child Protection & Safeguarding

The safety, dignity and wellbeing of every participant is the foundation of everything we do. Rising Sons Africa is committed to creating safe, trusted and nurturing environments where every boy can learn, grow and thrive.

Our Safeguarding Commitment

Rising Sons Africa is committed to creating environments where boys are protected from harm, treated with dignity and respect, and supported to grow without fear. Safeguarding is embedded into every programme, every activity and every interaction.

Our Commitment
  • Every child has the right to protection.
  • The welfare of every child comes first.
  • Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.
  • Every concern is taken seriously and acted upon promptly.

Duty of Care

Duty of care transfers to Rising Sons Africa from the moment a participant arrives at camp until departure. During this period we accept full responsibility for the participant's safety, wellbeing and supervision.

This transfer of responsibility is formally documented and understood by both families and partner schools before participation begins.

What Rising Sons Holds

  • Full duty of care throughout residential programmes.
  • Background verification of every staff member, mentor and volunteer.
  • The Two-Adult Rule for participant safety.
  • A designated Safeguarding Focal Point onsite.
  • Qualified counsellors available throughout every programme.
  • Rapid reporting and escalation procedures for safeguarding concerns.

Every Adult Is Vetted, Trained & Accountable

Every mentor, volunteer and staff member is carefully screened before engaging with participants.

  • Background verification.
  • Reference checks.
  • Safeguarding training.
  • Mentor Code of Conduct.
  • Continuous supervision and review.

Confidentiality & Its Limits

We encourage honest conversations and protect participant confidentiality wherever possible. Information shared during mentoring and group sessions remains confidential unless there is reason to believe a participant may be at risk of harm.

Where a safeguarding concern exists, Rising Sons Africa will involve parents, guardians and relevant authorities where necessary to protect the child.

How To Raise A Concern

Parents, guardians, mentors, volunteers, schools and partners are encouraged to report any safeguarding concern, regardless of how small it may seem.

Working With Schools & Families

Safeguarding is a shared responsibility. Rising Sons Africa works closely with parents, guardians and partner schools to ensure every participant is supported before, during and after every programme.

We seek parental consent directly from families and obtain participant assent separately to ensure every young person understands and willingly participates in the programme.

Our Commitment Never Ends

Child protection is central to every Rising Sons Africa programme. If you have any safeguarding questions or concerns, our team is ready to help.
